Transits - Sky Today — illustration

Planetary transits are the ongoing movements of planets through the zodiac - and through the houses and aspects of your natal chart. A Saturn transit to your natal Venus doesn't happen often, and when it does, relationships get serious, or get tested, or both. A Jupiter transit to your Midheaven opens professional doors. The transits tracker maps what's currently moving through your chart and what it means - not in vague emotional terms, but in specific life domains and timing windows.

How it works

Enter your birth date, time, and location to generate your natal chart positions. The tracker then calculates current planetary positions and identifies which natal points are under active transit right now. Each transit is listed with its nature (conjunction, trine, square, opposition, or sextile), the two planets involved, the life domain affected, the approximate duration, and an interpretation of what this transit typically activates.

Understanding your result

A square from transiting Pluto to your natal Sun is multi-year and transforms how you understand your identity and authority - it's difficult by design. A trine from Jupiter to your natal Moon is brief and warm, often coinciding with emotional ease or domestic expansion. Hard aspects (square, opposition) are pressure; soft aspects (trine, sextile) are opportunity. Conjunctions are intensifiers - they merge the transiting planet's energy with whatever it touches. Current transits show what's active right now; upcoming ones show what's on the way.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate does my birth time need to be?

For house cusps and Ascendant-dependent transits, within 15-30 minutes makes a meaningful difference. For planetary transits to natal planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, etc.), the exact time matters less - within a couple of hours is usually fine.

What if I don't know my birth time?

You can use noon as a default - you'll still get accurate transits to natal planets, but house-based transits will be unreliable. The 'houses unknown' note will flag which interpretations depend on accurate birth time.

How long do transits last?

It varies by planet. Fast-moving planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) transit natal points in days to weeks. Slow planets (Jupiter, Saturn) last months; Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transits can span years and make multiple passes due to retrograde.

Is this for entertainment?

Astrology is offered here for self-reflection and entertainment. Transits describe archetypal patterns of timing and development - they're not deterministic predictions.
