Human Design is a synthesis system built in 1987 from the I Ching, the Kabbalah, astrology, and the Hindu Chakra system. It assigns you a Type (Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, or Reflector) based on your birth data, along with a Strategy, an Authority, and a Profile - all of which describe how your energy moves and how you're designed to make decisions. It's gone from fringe to mainstream surprisingly fast. For good reason: the Type and Authority descriptions tend to land hard.
How it works
Enter your birth date, time, and location. The calculator generates your Human Design bodygraph - the geometric figure showing your defined and undefined centers, channels, and gates. Your Type, Strategy, Authority, and Profile appear with full interpretations. Birth time is essential here - unlike solar astrology, a wrong birth time produces a fundamentally different chart.
Understanding your result
The five Types describe fundamentally different energy dynamics. Generators (about 70% of people) have sustainable life-force energy and are designed to respond before acting. Projectors (about 20%) don't have consistent energy - they're designed to wait for recognition and invitation before offering their guidance. Manifestors (about 9%) initiate and are designed to inform others before acting. Reflectors (about 1%) are designed to wait a full lunar cycle before major decisions - they sample and reflect the health of the community. Manifesting Generators move fast and non-linearly. Your Authority (emotional, sacral, splenic, ego, self-projected, environmental, lunar) tells you what you actually trust for decisions.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate does my birth time need to be?
Very accurate - ideally within 30 minutes. Gates and channels can shift with small time differences. Check your birth certificate; hospital records often have the minute.
Is Human Design an ancient system?
No. Ra Uru Hu (Alan Krakower) received and developed it in 1987. It draws from ancient traditions but is a contemporary synthesis - not an ancient lineage.
What's the difference between Type and Strategy?
Your Type describes what kind of energy system you are. Your Strategy is how that type is designed to move through the world - the practical behavioral guideline. For a Generator, the Strategy is 'wait to respond.' For a Projector, it's 'wait for the invitation.'
Is this for entertainment or something people actually live by?
Many people experiment with their Strategy and Authority seriously for months or years and report significant life changes. Others use it as a self-understanding framework. It's your call how deep you take it.
